Theater Design Day Camp

Step into the world of theater design with Brewster’s Theatrical Design Summer Camp, where students will explore the art and craft behind creating stage environments. Over the course of the camp, participants will learn the process of designing scenic elements for theater productions—from conceptualization and sketching to model-making and technical implementation. This hands-on, collaborative program is perfect for students interested in theater, visual arts, and design.

Camp will run Monday-Friday July 7-18th 1-4 p.m. and is open to ages 13-17
Program Fee: $550.00 per camper

Program Highlights:
Introduction to Theatrical Design: Understand the role of a scenic designer in the world of theater and the process of bringing a script to life through set design.

Creative Concept Development: Learn how to interpret the mood, themes, and characters of a play or production to create a compelling visual concept.

Design Skills: Master fundamental techniques, including sketching, drafting, and creating models to communicate design ideas.

Hands-On Learning: Build actual set pieces, props, and costumes.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Work in small groups to design a set or costumes for a mock production, collaborating with fellow campers to create a cohesive visual aesthetic.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Explore the technical side of set design, including lighting, construction, and scenic painting, through a guided tour of a theater facility.
